With much thought and conversation, Rachel and I have come up with an idea that we believe will be not only inspiring for those who love us but also monumental in raising awareness for Rare Disease here in our little community. And by community I don't just mean our little town but this community of readers and this awesome support system that we have.
We wanted to create something that would remind you to pray for Mabel along with other children who are undiagnosed, delayed or are living with rare disease and their families. Plus, we wanted something unique and cute. We realize that we may have a diagnosis or reason for Mabel's delays and seizures at some point but even then, we want to rise up and give to something larger than ourselves.
We want to introduce to you our slogan. It is one of a future and a hope. It is one that is rooted in our Lord who is sovereign and good. We believe that Mabel is already bringing hope to those who see her, hold her and love her.
We saw an idea for button rings and loved it. We want something that is rare to signify how important it is to pray for and fund rare disease. Mabel's color is yellow so for this month we will be making yellow button rings. There is no cost for the rings but we would just ask that you would prayerfully consider making a donation of any amount, large or small, in the name of rare disease. On the sidebar of my blog you will see that our goal for this month is $100. I believe we can do even greater than that amount.
Each month, our intent is to make a different color ring to bring awareness to a specific rare disease but for this month we will be donating to the general NORD fund on their website here: www.rarediseases.org. If you hear of a rare disease, know of someone with a specific disorder, or if you would just like to see funds raised for a specific cause, please email me!
We want to also make button bracelets at some point and have a few other ideas. For now, if you cannot donate and would still like a ring to remind you to pray for Mabel and other children, please email me! email@example.com. We will notify you through this blog when we send out a shipment of rings and when you receive yours, please send us a photo!
Rachel will be making the rings, bracelets, headbands or whatever else we decide to create. You can check out her work and get more information on her facebook page under "Harper's Halos."
We love you and are thankful for each of you. I feel your support and prayers pulling me through each day. Our little Mabel is so capable of big things and we are determined to not look back in this journey but to move forward. Remember, once you know you cannot look away. Throughout the month, I will be posting information on specific disorders so that you have an idea of what you're supporting.
Thanks in advance! For any questions, email me.
